Location:
North Hills is located in the Oakland Hills above the Caldecott Tunnel/hwy 24. The lower area runs along Tunnel Blvd and the upper portion extends to Skyline and Grizzly Peak Rd. The North Hills are sometimes referred to as the Claremont Hills. This is not correct because even though many “North Hills” residents are serviced by the Berkeley U.S. Mail office and therefore have Berkeley mailing address, their homes actually lie in the City of Oakland.
Types of properties:
North Hills is a residential neighborhood comprised of high end view homes. The typography is quite hilly and much of it faces west towards San Francisco. Most of the homes in the North Hills are newer construction because they were built after the 1991 Oakland Hills Firestorm. There was not a design review process in the rebuilding effort so the area now displays some of the most interesting and architecturally unique homes in all of the Oakland-Montclair hills.
